Abilities Dance Boston's dancers and composers have partnered with the University of Peradeniya's student dancers and musicians in Sri Lanka to create pieces for a virtual production premiering January 30th at 11:30 am EST. This production reimagines what is possible when we create work that transcends geographic barriers. Through our artistry, we are highlighting intersectional disability and racial equity across the globe. Performance clips will also be presented from our various community engagement programs (Our Space Our Place, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Massachusetts Boston, and more). This collaboration is made possible through the hard work of Ashley Fargnoli, MA, LCPC, BC-DMT (Fulbright Scholar & Dance/Movement Therapy Instructor at the University of Peradeniya) and Ellice Patterson, MS (Abilities Dance Founder/Executive & Artistic Director).
Abilities Dance is supported by the New England Foundation for the Arts through the New England Arts Resilience Fund, part of the United States Regional Arts Resilience Fund, an initiative of the U.S. Regional Arts Organizations and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, with major funding from the federal CARES Act from the National Endowment for the Arts.
